1. Why am I am getting email from someone I did not approve?
The challenge response used by Greenlight Guardian has been found to be a superior method in blocking SPAM. SPAM is almost always sent from a fake or forged email address. Therefore, the sender never receives the challenge response. This is what makes Greenlight Guardian a winning formula against SPAM.

However, very infrequently, a SPAMMER using a valid email address may take the time to approve an email address via the Greenlight Guardian challenge response. Since most SPAM is sent by the millions, this almost never happens. However, in the unlikely event that it does, you can stop them very easily by moving them to your Blacklist. To do that, go into your Whitelist (under the Listing tab on the main screen) and right click their email address. Select “Move to Blacklist.” Once you do this, they will never be able to email you again from that address!

2. Will Greenlight Guardian replace my email client?
No, Greenlight Guardian works in concert with your current client. You won't have to change your email address, address book, or any of your favorite settings that your current email client provides.

Important Note: Greenlight Guardian is NOT compatible with web based email accounts: Hotmail, Yahoo!, Gmail, or AOL (unless you are using a client to DL your email, as opposed to reading your email via a web browser)

3. Can I customize the Challenge Response message?
YES! For the challenge message, you can either select the normal default one, or create your own personal version. To set a personal challenge response message, right-click on the Greenlight Guardian icon in the system tray and select Preferences.

4. Can Ascentive read my email?
Your email is completely private. Because Greenlight Guardian sorts your messages right on your own computer instead of on a server somewhere in cyberspace, your messages go right from your provider to you — minus the spam!

5. Will this work for me if I use a POP3 client not listed on your site?
Greenlight Guardian will work with any POP3 type client program. The popular clients listed on the Support Center only represent programs that are compatible with Greenlight Guardian's automatic configuration wizard. If you have a different client, you can still enter in your server information manually.

6. Will I have to change my email address?
No. You'll be using the same POP3 email address that your provider gave to you.

7. Will Greenlight Guardian work with web-based/IMAP email accounts, such as Yahoo!, MSN/Hotmail, Gmail, and AOL?
At this time, Greenlight Guardian requires that you use a POP3 type email account that allows email client relaying. Currently, you will not be able to use Greenlight Guardian with the email providers listed above. If you are using a different web-based POP3 email provider, and you are collecting your messages with an email client, Greenlight Guardian should be compatible.

8. My email client is giving me an error that it cannot connect to 'localhost' to get my messages.
If you are seeing this message, it means you do not have Greenlight Guardian running. Before checking your email, you will need to turn on Greenlight Guardian. Check your programs folder.
