iOS (iPhone or iPad) Guide

Changing your iOS Cache Size

When you access a file on your iPhone or iPad - unless it's a video or music file that streams straight from Livedrive - it is cached locally on your device.

This means that when you next want to access it you don't have to wait for it to download.

Once your cache is full, older files that you haven't used recently will roll over and be removed from the cache.

If you need more space on your device and want to reduce the cache size, go to Settings and change the Cache Size option - the smaller it is, the less space it will use on your device, but the more likely it is that Livedrive will have to download files when you view them.

How to Upload Pictures From Your iPhone or iPad

The Livedrive iOS app allows you to upload pictures taken with your device directly to your Livedrive Briefcase.

To upload your pictures:

  1. Login to your Livedrive Cloud account using the app.
  2. Click on the camera icon
  3. Upload From Album or Upload From Camera

Once you selected a picture, Livedrive will upload the file into your Briefcase. The file will then accessible via your web portal and desktop.

Please note: You must ensure that you have either a Briefcase only, Pro Suite or Business account to upload pictures.  Currently the app only allows pictures to be upload rather than documents.

Why Can't I Backup My iPhone or iPad?

The Livedrive iOS app for iPhone and iPad (requires iOS 4.3 or later) allows you to access and view files that you have already uploaded to your Livedrive account from your computer.

You can upload individual photo files from your device to the Briefcase, however it is not possible to backup the entire device as applications are sandboxed.

The development team is currently working on improving the upload facility to provide additional functionality.
