ActiveSpeed
Follow the steps below to accelerate your Internet connection with ActiveSpeed.
The setup can begin once the program has been downloaded and installed onto your PC.
1. Open ActiveSpeed
Double click the ActiveSpeed icon on your desktop
[ Or ] Select ActiveSpeed from your Programs folder —
Go to Start Menu > All Programs > Ascentive > ActiveSpeed
2. If ActiveSpeed has opened with a warning, then it has detected that your Internet connection is not optimized.
Click the Internet Optimization Scan button to scan Internet connection settings.
Click Optimize Now button to skip scanning.
3. Internet Connection Test
By running this Internet connection test you will be able to know if your connection is fully optimized. If ActiveSpeed has found that your settings are not optimized, click the Review button.
4. Optimize your Internet Connection
Click the Optimize Now button to start boosting your Internet connection.
5. Login
After clicking the Optimize Now button, you will be prompted to enter your login information or to Activate Now.
First Time Users who have never logged in: A registration reminder will pop-up in a new window. To optimize your Internet Connection, you will need to sign up for an ActiveSpeed account.
Active Customers: Enter your login information using the Username and Password you created when making your purchase.
* Logins are case-sensitive and must be entered exactly as it was created.
Important: An Internet connection is required to verify account information and to complete the optimization process.
6. Speed Manager
After signing in, you'll notice that the window will change to display the main console.
Click on the small hammer tool icon to Open Speed Manager.
Optimize with Speed Manager
The Speed Manager Window is your control center for using ActiveSpeed. From this window you can optimize your Internet connection by choosing the Speed Mode that works best for you.
The big X at the top-right corner of the main console will close the main console window. Note: ActiveSpeed is still running in the background! You should still see the ActiveSpeed icon in your system tray (where your system clock is). Closing the main console window will not shut down or disable ActiveSpeed. However, you can shutdown ActiveSpeed by closing the icon in the system tray.
The “red tack” button will allow you to keep the ActiveSpeed console window on top of your other windows so you don't lose it. Simply click this toggle button again to restore ActiveSpeed's window level placement capabilities.
This button will open a network monitor window. As the monitor slowly scrolls, your BandWidth Usage will be graphed.
Click on this button to Open Speed Manager. You will need to open the Speed Manager Window to optimize your Internet.
To visit Ascentive's Support Center, click on this icon. .
This button will place ActiveSpeed to the bottom right corner of your screen.
7. Choose your Speed Modes
Speed Manager Window
The Speed Manager Window is your control center for using ActiveSpeed. From this window, you can optimize your Internet connection by choosing the Speed Mode that best suits your PC's activities.
Intelligent Mode & Learning Phase
We first suggest trying ActiveSpeed's Intelligent mode. Click on the Optimize button on the side menu bar, then select the mode of choice. For the Intelligent Mode, click on the Intelligent Mode button (first button on top) and then proceed to activate by clicking on the Activate Intelligent Mode button on the bottom right.
Click the Next button to begin Intelligent Mode.
The Intelligent Mode
This mode is powered by ActiveSpeed's patented Intelligence Optimization Engine, which learns about your connection
and usage patterns. It then determines what settings to use to boost your speed based on the information that it has gathered.
The Learning Phase
When using the Intelligent Mode, it is required to go through the Learning Phase.This phase will take about 6 restarts for ActiveSpeed to understand your PC activity and decide what the best settings are for the user. Your Internet connection may be slower while ActiveSpeed runs network tests.
Quick Optimize Mode
This mode allows you to choose from 6 different optimization methods.
Quick Optimize Tab
This section allows users to quickly speed up their Internet connection. To get started just set the Internet connection type, connection speed, and optimization method then click the Optimize Now button.
Adapter
Select an adapter from the list for which you would like the optimization method to be applied to.
By default, ActiveSpeed will choose the active adapter for you. If you are unsure, leave the settings as is or click on the Auto select active adapter button.
Custom Optimization
This section is for advanced users, those used to being able to configure their own settings. These manual settings are not intended for use by the average PC user.
