Using ActivePrivacy - Quick Update

To begin using the benefits of ActivePrivacy, you will first need to tell it which cookies are okay to delete. There are three ways to do this:
  • Manually deleting cookies one at a time through the Cookie Viewer.
  • Adding the URL (web address) that placed the cookie on your computer to your Personal Blacklist and performing a PrivacyScan.
  • Obtaining a list of known abusers from Ascentive by performing a Quick Update and performing a PrivacyScan.
Quick Update button The easiest and fastest way to receive protection from known abusers is to use the Quick Update button. When you click on this, ActivePrivacy will download and augment itself with the most up to date list of known abusers. With your paid service, you may Quick Update as frequently as you like. Update often to make sure you have the most current list! With your Quick Update, ActivePrivacy now shields you from cookies that harmful web sites try to place on your computer.

Quick Update button Now that your ActivePrivacy is armed with the latest privacy information, click on Privacy Scan. This will eliminate any unwanted cookies that are already on your system. For first time users, do not be surprised if it takes ActivePrivacy several minutes to remove the unwanted cookies from your system that have built up over time.

Review:
First click Quick Update to receive the latest in privacy protection. Then click Privacy Scan to eliminate the already inhabited cookies. You will see the unwanted cookies being scrubbed (removed) from your system one at a time in your Recent Activity Window.
